Would a sports bar be cool? Well, places to take a date. This is Dr. Paul, author of Boomer Girls, a Boomer Woman’s Guide to Men and Dating, and host of Ask Dr.

Paul. Alright, you like sports bars, that may not be the best place to take a date, OK guys, so let’s kind of move away from that one and move in to an area that might be more interesting. Now it doesn’t have to be something that’s expensive. It doesn’t have to be something that makes your date feel uncomfortable. You might say, hey, you know what, we could go over to this particular club.

It’s a quite club, and if you’re taking a date some place, you don’t want to go where there’s a lot of noise, unless you don’t want to talk to her, and that’s not a good idea because maybe she would like to listen to what you have to say, and more importantly, you want to listen to what she has to say. So, something more on the quite side would be a good place to go for a date. It could of course be a restaurant, not high echelon restaurant, but more something in the middle.

It could be something like going to some friends’ homes that would like to chat. That could be nice. Somebody that’s prepared for that.

No surprises here. Not a lot of alcohol here, we don’t want to get in to that trick bag at all. Stay away from that. We might also look at something that is other than a movie, because in a movie, there again, you can’t talk.

You can’t hear each other, and you’re not going to be able to talk in the movie anyway. So then the places to take a date kind of narrow down to a place where you can communicate effectively, maybe you can dance, maybe it’s not too loud, and you take all of the maybe‘s and put them together in to a composite, and say OK, maybe we can do this. Maybe something different. We go to an ice cream parlor.

That’s cool. Haven’t done that for a while. Walk around and do window shopping. I know that sounds a little trite, but guess what, usually in an area where you’re doing that type of thing, it’s pretty cosmopolitan, and you can enjoy it, and wind up in an ice cream parlor.

I know it sounds basic, but it works, and that’s the important thing, make it work and make it work for you. This is Dr. Paul.

May your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow.
